To properly wear cowboy boots, a man should typically pair them with jeans, ensuring the jeans cover the boot shaft but allow the detail to peek through.  The jeans should be fitted through the thigh and seat but slightly relaxed from the knee down, and the hem should rest just above the heel of the boot or slightly above the instep.  While tucking jeans into boots is generally reserved for specific situations like work or rugged outdoor activities, a more polished look is achieved by letting the jeans drape over the boots.
