Style: Valentine’s Day. Each year on February 14, people exchange cards, chocolates or flowers with their special “valentine.”

St. Valentine’s Day. Named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century.

More than that the poet Chaucer in the Middle Ages was the first to link St Valentines with romantic love.

The oldest known valentine still exists today.

Charles, Duke of Orleans wrote the love letter to second wife at the age of 21 while captured at the Battle of Agincourt. Furthermore a prisoner for more than 20 years, he would never see his valentine’s reaction to the poem he penned for her in the early 15th century.
